Sahasrara Crown Chakra Goddess (art in progress pics)
An interesting journey going through the motions with Sahasrara. As the image depicts, I felt peace and flow as I painted her. There were no objections or interruptions I had previously experienced with the other goddesses. A completely different feeling that was so welcomed and unexpected. She emanates the feeling of peace and serenity. When I started drawing her, I sensed a deep meditative and contemplative energy. This becomes the perfect condition to connect with the universe. The prayer pose was the perfect way to the channel this powerful energy starting from the crown of her...

When I started this chakra goddess series I didn’t know what I was getting myself into. Simply thought it would be channeling into their energies and allowing them to communicate how they wanted to be expressed. Little did I realize I was going to intervene in the creative process. One would think after my experience with Svadhishthana – Sacral Chakra Goddess that I had learned my lesson and be receptive and humble to let these powerful goddesses show up. Nope! Back to repeating the same experience in creating what “I” think would look good. I’ve learned they...

Must admit when I started this chakra goddess series I was a bit fearful of what may come up for me in terms of facing my personal challenges. For a very long time I knew one of my childhood challenges is using my voice. Uncertain of what I would encounter with this chakra whether it be resistance or overcoming this fear of stepping up and using my voice to express who I am. Growing up in my Asian family my voice was not honored nor respected. Voicing opinions and feelings were not welcomed and my parents used logic and sternness to shut it down. I am reminded of a story of an illustrator...

What can I say about the next chakra goddess, Anahata? This chakra is all about love and compassion for self and others. When this series was created, I never knew this heart chakra would be most sought after. People wanted greeting cards and prints! People love her and of course you can see why. I mean what’s not to love about this beautiful being. Long flowy blonde hair, rich green robe like dress to reflect the color of this chakra and her ever present loving feminine energy. Finalizing the pencil sketch was pretty easy, but the painting was a challenge. Little did I know in the...

Life is full of surprises and a journey. One of the things to remember whenever I paint is there will be unexpected turn of events and experiences after each brush stroke. I love control and knowing what an art piece ‘should’ look like in the end but sometimes things don’t always goes as planned – even with the best intentions. Ever experienced this in your life? The last chakra goddess Svadhishthana (click here to read about Sacral Chakra Goddess) and I had differences in opinions and so I did my best to be humble and open as possible on the next one. Who knew...

My intention with the Chakra Goddess series was to naturally start from the bottom and work my way to the top. From the Root chakra to the Crown. When I completed the preliminary drawings I wasn’t happy with the first drawing of the Root chakra goddess, Muladhara so decided to sit on it and start on the next chakra. This is one of my creative processes where if there’s something I am unsure of, I let it sit on the back burner until something better comes up. By doing this I am giving my mind a little space for something to arise. Or perhaps a new inspiration to pop up...
