Manipura Solar Plexus Chakra Goddess (art in progress pics)
Life is full of surprises and a journey. One of the things to remember whenever I paint is there will be unexpected turn of events and experiences after each brush stroke. I love control and knowing what an art piece ‘should’ look like in the end but sometimes things don’t always goes as planned – even with the best intentions. Ever experienced this in your life? The last chakra goddess Svadhishthana (click here to read about Sacral Chakra Goddess) and I had differences in opinions and so I did my best to be...

My intention with the Chakra Goddess series was to naturally start from the bottom and work my way to the top. From the Root chakra to the Crown. When I completed the preliminary drawings I wasn’t happy with the first drawing of the Root chakra goddess, Muladhara so decided to sit on it and start on the next chakra. This is one of my creative processes where if there’s something I am unsure of, I let it sit on the back burner until something better comes up. By doing this I am giving my mind a little space for something to arise....

The Chakra Goddesses showcased at O5 Tea Bar in November 2015 was one of my proudest moments in my life. This was my first solo show. Nothing like a good deadline and accountability to complete an art series finishing the last painting on the very first day of the show. Whew! As with any art show, nervousness is expected as an artist can never know how it will be received by the viewers. Art as they say is very subjective and this was a personal extension of who I am. Never realized such a show is like planning and organizing a wedding...

. How do you come up with ideas? What’s your inspiration? Nature? Food? Books? Music? A challenge most artists face when completing a series is wondering what to paint next? When I am complete and see no need to explore further I start the creative process all over again…staring at a blank white canvas. Years ago when I was in Graphic design school, my color theory teacher had told the class of his experience working with one of the leading graphic designers in the city. The prominent designer has won awards for his amazing designs....

Q: How do you create your art? It just comes out of me. At the time when I do it, I...
